BB Agency is a global, remote-friendly agency focused on digital evolution. We are replacing a legacy ERP ecosystem (Oracle HCM & Ofiplan 9.0) with a modern HR & Payroll cloud solution. The Proxy Squad will design and implement a high-performance Java 17+ gateway that sits between legacy applications and new microservices, acting as the source of truth during migration. The role involves reverse engineering undocumented endpoints, migrating data to the new system, connecting to SQL Server and Oracle DBs, handling direct JDBC connections, and ensuring zero bad data while preserving existing contracts. You will work across Peru and Europe to keep business continuity during the migration, interfacing with client teams in Spanish and English. This project is core to enabling a resilient, scalable data backbone for enterprise HR & Payroll processes.

What you will do

  • Design, build, and operate a robust Java 17+ Proxy Service (Spring Boot) that serves as the new source of truth between legacy systems and modern HR & Payroll microservices.
  • Implement an Anti-Corruption Layer to sanitize and transform legacy data before it enters the new system, preserving data contracts.
  • Expose new REST/SOAP APIs to decouple legacy apps from direct database access, enabling seamless migration from Oracle HCM and Ofiplan 9.0.
  • Reverse-engineer undocumented endpoints, analyze SQL procedures, and map legacy data schemas to the new platform.
  • Apply resilience patterns (Resilience4j, circuit breakers, retries, caching) to ensure stability during migration of slow upstream systems.
  • Decouple legacy database access by introducing API layers that replace direct JDBC connections and stored procedures.
  • Lead technical communication with the client’s Peru team in Spanish, including debugging sessions and API contracts discussions.

  • Proficiency in analyzing direct JDBC connections, stored procedures, and replacing them with clean API layers.
  • Hands-on experience with Resilience4j, rate limiting, and asynchronous processing to manage slow upstream systems.
  • Legacy decoupling via patterns like Strangler Fig to migrate traffic without downtime.
  • Tooling mastery: SoapUI, Postman, and network analysis (Wireshark) for mapping traffic.
